Symposium entitled “Roadmap to an Active Super-aged Society in 2015” was completed.
A symposium entitled “Roadmap to an Active Super-aged Society in 2015” was hosted by IOG/GLAFS on March 7 on the University of Tokyo’s Hongo campus. The morning session included presentations of GLAFS field training programs and collaborative research by master’s and doctoral students. The afternoon session included an overview of the status of the “I-Shoku-Ju” program (wherein “I” refers to “cure,” “shoku” refers to “care support systems,” including work, food, and social life support systems, and “Ju” refers to habitation). The program, which has reached the halfway point, emphasizes various efforts which the IOG has been using as role models for super-aged societies.
The symposium also included a discussion of the IOG’s efforts. There were more than 200 participants, so some people had to stand. There is a new, growing awareness of super-aged societies, and an air of excitement filled the venue during the seven hour event, including lunch. Further details will be reported later.
