| 2014年10月16日～19日に、アメリカ・セントルイスのワシントン大学で国際シンポジウムが開催されました。マクドネル国際スカラーアカデミーが主催する大学間の国際連携プログラムで、アジア17か国の他、南米チリ、アフリカではガーナなども参加しています。グローバルな課題における大学の役割を共通のテーマとし、「エネルギー・環境」「食糧・水・気候変動」「公衆衛生」「高齢化」の４つのカテゴリーについて各国の報告がありました。 東京大学もメンバーシップをもっていて、GLAFSから助教2名、学生1名が参加。学際的な研究・教育プログラムにおける専門ごとのディシプリンの違いをどう乗り越えるかや、ジェロントロジーの専門家として養成される博士人材を社会でどのように生かすかという点についてポスター発表を行いました。 詳しくはこちらのページをご覧下さい |

| Ryoko Hatanaka, GLAFS Assistant Professor The 5th annual international symposium was held at McDonnell Academy, Washington University, St. Louis Missouri, October 16th-19th. Symposium participants were comprised of representatives from partner universities in 17 Asian countries, Chile, and the Republic of Ghana. Academic leaders from around the world gathered in St. Louis to discuss global issues in four categories: aging, food and water, energy and the environment, and public health. The University of Tokyo participated in the symposium and was represented by two assistant professors and one student. They presented a poster on how to overcome differences within each area of specialty in interdisciplinary research and educational programs. Also discussed was how to maximize the use of doctoral personnel as gerontology specialists. Comments made by the hosting university and other participating universities included statements such as “Japan is a front-runner as a developed country with a super-aging society. It is impossible to address the challenges and problems facing super-aging societies without Japan.” For more information, please visit this page |
