Opening Ceremony: University of Tokyo Community Support Center in Ogakuchi, Otsuchi
|
The University of Tokyo’s IOG has been trying to establish a major base in Otsuchi, Iwate prefecture in an attempt to construct a prototype model for a community support center operating system. On March 29, 2015, the opening ceremony for“The University of Tokyo Community Support Center in Ogakuchi, Otsuchi” was held. This future generation community support center is different from other places for older adults in terms of welfare services, which typically aim at providing communication opportunities and facilitate bathing at places like bath houses for the elderly. This location is a place where elderly people are seen as active baby boomers in the local community and who have the opportunity to studying, improve health, and communication through activities such as hosting of local community networking events and making local resource maps.
This new type of community support center is considered a base for supporting local communities and younger generations.
GLAFS plans to make use of this center as a place for training as part of the graduate education program. |
